Invitation to attend the Washington Small Business Forum on June 6 - RSVP by May 31     5/5/2017

Dear Business Organization & Government Agency representatives:

You are invited to attend the Washington Small Business Forum on Tuesday, June 6, 2017.  We will be meeting at the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries’ offices in Tukwila. The forum will be from 9:00am until noon.  We hold a forum twice a year, and the agencies and organizations that have participated find the information, opportunity to network and exchange of ideas very valuable.

We have several informative presentations this time –

Chuck Harwood, of the Federal Trade Commission will talk about the cybersecurity risks small businesses face, and best practices businesses should adopt.

Aly Schmidt, of Better Business Bureau Northwest will tell us how the BBB has grown and what they have to offer individuals, agencies, and businesses.

Tristan Allen from the Washington Emergency Management Division will talk about how the Private Sector Program connects small and medium sized businesses to disaster preparedness and assistance resources.

Roseann Collins, from the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries will tell us how a new law has expanded workers’ comp options for covering volunteers, and how this can help businesses.

Ryan Calkins from Ventures will discuss the challenges microbusinesses in the service sector face in terms of accessing resources, capital, and business networks.

The purpose of the Small Business Forum is to assemble representatives from business and industry organizations, along with representatives of various federal and state government agencies to hear presentations, as well as to provide a time and place for roundtable discussion.

This forum will be hosted by the IRS and the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries.

I will send out an agenda as we get closer to the forum date.

We look forward to seeing you or someone else from your organization at the forum on June 6th.  Please let me know by May 31st if you plan to attend, so we can ensure that we have enough handout materials.  Please email or call me if you have any questions.

Thank you, Kari
