Dept. of Ecology Formal Review Process has begun 7/10/2023 The City Council adopted Resolution 892 in June 2023 adopting amendments to the City's SMP. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this effort! Please note that the City's ADOPTION of the changes does not mean the document has been approved or put into effect. Instead, APPROVAL from the Department is pending. The City recieved a written confrmation on July 7, 2023 that the submittal for a periodic review amendment met all the requirements of WAC 173-26-110. (This does not mean that the City’s SMP amendment has been approved; only that it meets the criteria for a complete submittal.) Ecology has now begun the formal review process for determining whether the City's amendments are consistent with RCW 90.58 (the Shoreline Management Act) and WAC 173-26, Parts III and IV (the SMP and Ocean Management Guidelines, respectively). They are required to hold a minimum 30-day public comment period. The public comment period dates have not yet been determined. As soon as dates are established, Ecology will notify the City along with all interested parties (in writing) of the beginning and end of the comment period.
