SHORELINE MASTER PROGRAM (SMP)

PERIODIC REVIEW

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Montesano is proposing to update the City’s adopted Shoreline Master Program.  The City and the Washington Dept. of Ecology (Ecology) are accepting comments on a periodic review in accordance with RCW 90.58.080(4) and pursuant to the joint review process set forth in WAC 173-26-104.  The city has prepared draft Shoreline Master Program (SMP) amendments to be consistent with state law, city plans, regulations, and other changed local circumstances.  Proposed amendments to the SMP are limited to changes to the Shoreline Management Act and related rules, and some limited modifications to reflect changes to local circumstances. Public comments will be accepted from September 19, 2022 to October 19, 2022. Send comments to City staff contact Mike Olden (contact information provided below). Comments sent to the city will be forwarded to the Dept. of Ecology.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that Environmental Review (SEPA) is being conducted on the proposal and a Revised Determination of Non-significance (DNS) was issued on August 25, 2022.  There is no comment period.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the Planning Commission and the Washington Dept. of Ecology (Ecology) will hold a joint public hearing on the proposal. The hearing is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Montesano City Hall in the Council Chambers

Note:  The hearing was originally scheduled to take place in September but had to be re-scheduled.
