Here's what's happening
6/26/2023  -  Final SMP adopted via Ordinance O-02-2023   
The Adams County Board of Commissioners adopted Ordinance O-02-2023 on June 20, 2023 adopting amendments to the Shoreline Master Program (SMP). The amendments to the SMP adopted through the ordinance will be effective 14 days after Department of Ecology's final action as provided by RCW 90.58.090(7). The signed ordinance is available here. 
5/9/2023  -  Adoption Schedule  (BOCC Staff Report Now Available) 
The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has scheduled a workshop and a public hearing on the proposed SMP amendments. The workshop is on May 24th at 9:30 a.m. in Ritzville (more information here) and the public hearing and anticipated adoption is on June 20th at 1:30 p.m. in Ritzville (more information here).The staff report for the BOCC is now available here. 
5/3/2023  -  Updated Checklist Available Now   
The updated Ecology Periodic Review Checklist (contains the minimum scope of review requirements of WAC 173-26-090(2)(d)(ii) incorporating all required and recommended changes based on Ecology's Initial Determination is available here.
4/11/2023  -  Public Hearing Draft Meeting Minutes Now Available  (March 23, 2023) 
The draft meeting minutes for the March 23, 2023 public hearing on the proposed SMP amendments are available at this link.
3/29/2023  -  Comment and response matrix now available  (30-day comment period is closed.) 
The 30-day comment period has concluded. All comments submitted to the County have been compiled into a matrix, as well as the County's official response to the comments. There are no changes to the proposed amendments based on the comments received. To view the comment and response matrix, click here.

2/23/2023  -  SEPA Determination of Non-Significance (DNS) Issued  (Comments accepted until March 10, 2023) 
On February 23, 2023, the County issued a Determination of Non-Significance (DNS) on the proposed amendments. The threshold determination means that the County has determined that the proposal does not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment, and that an environmental impact statement (EIS) is not required under RCW 43.21C.030 (2)(c). 2/22/2023  -  Public Hearing has been scheduled   
The Adams County Planning Commission has scheduled a joint public hearing with the Department of Ecology on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 10 a.m.  Find more information in the "Events" section.The staff report for the public hearing has been published here.
2/22/2023  -  Draft documents available for review   
The SMP redlined document as well as the completed Ecology Periodic Review Checklist (contains the minimum scope of review requirements of WAC 173-26-090(2)(d)(ii). These documents can be found in the "Library" page under the category "Draft SMP."
Public comments will be accepted from February 23, 2023 to March 27, 2023. Send comments to County staff contact Andie Lorenz (contact information provided below). Updated maps have been produced. There are no changes to the Shoreline jurisdiction or Shoreline Environment Designations (SEDS). The updates include updated imagery and City boundaries. The SEDS Map Book is available under the "Library" tab.
1/16/2023  -  Project Launch   
The County has launched its periodic review to the Shoreline Master Program (SMP).
