Lewis River Road/Scott Avenue Intersection Project

Summary of the project

Poor visibility, traffic congestion and safety are all issues at the Lewis River Road (SR 503)/Scott Avenue intersection. Both a traditional, signaled intersection and a roundabout are being evaluated by the City of Woodland to see which best addresses these issues. The two options will be compared for safety, cost, impact on area homes/businesses, access to adjacent properties and congestion management.

A state grant of $2 million was awarded to Woodland for the intersection improvement and an additional $233,000 of city funds will be added to the project budget. Additionally, money from various sources is being used for complementary projects in the area such as sidewalks and sewer enhancements.

The City of Woodland selected a roundabout as the preferred intersection option in June, 2014. Construction began in June, 2015. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.
