Dayton 2019 Comprehensive Plan Project

Summary of the project

The City of Dayton is in the process of conducting a "periodic update" to its comprehensive plan (CP) and development regulations (DR). The Dayton Comprehensive Plan is a 20-year plan that articulates the community's vision and is a reflection of community values.

The goals and policies included in this Plan will provide a basis for the City's regulations; guide future decision making; address anticipated population and employment growth; and articulate how facilities and services will be maintained or improved to accommodate the expected levels of growth.

Dayton usually amends its Comprehensive Plan annually and regularly adopts changes to the Development Code. In addition to these regular amendments, the state Growth Management Act (GMA) requires counties and cities to periodically conduct a thorough review of the jurisdiction's CP and DR.

This mandatory "periodic update" takes place for most communities at least once every eight years. The City of Dayton’s intends to complete the update by June 30, 2019.

How can I get involved with the Update?
