2015-17 Funding (Phase II) -- $650,000 (3/03/2016, click here).

Project Financials -- See separate project financials website here.

Description -- Project has been funded to date for two phases.  These are:
  • Phase I -- Project design need is to identify alternatives to reduce or eliminate flooding to the Wishkah Road (vicinity of milepost 2.2 to 2.7).  Reducing or eliminating flooding is necessary to reduce frequent property damage and allow access for critical public services (fire, police, ambulance, hospital).  Initial project alternatives include:
    • Acquiring two parcels of land adjacent to the river to provide floodplain storage; and
    • Constructing a 2,000 foot long sheet pile wall/dike.
This phase of project will be completed by 6/30/2013.
  • Phase II -- (A) Complete final engineering design and construction permit applications for sheet-pile flood wall east of the Wlshkah Road between milepost 2.2 and 2.7 for flood hazard reduction at a cost of up to $400,000.  (B) Acquire two parcels of property adjacent to the river as part of the project at a cost of up to $250,000. Parcel numbers are: 180933210010 and 180933240010.

Flood Hazard Reduction Benefits -- Provides flood storage and habitat restoration benefits as well provides protection for:
  • Road to stay open for emergency fire, police and EMS vehicles, as well local through-traffic needing to access several hundred up-Valley residences.
  • 9 residences.  (Note: The figure increases to 60 if all the homes on the hill above the road or the ones up around the curve are considered as they are impacted by lack of ingress or egress access.).
Project Status -- On-Track, Underway.
