The Cougar Creek Wildfire was caused by a lightning strike on Saturday, July 28th at approx. 09:15 PM. The location of the fire was 71/2 miles NE of Plain and 20 miles NW of Entiat in the Entiat Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The fire was burning in heavy timber, snags and logs in steep and inaccessible terrain which prevented crews from performing a direct attack.
