Here's what's happening
5/24/2023  -  Governor Inslee Signs Capital Budget   (including $35.5 million for Aberdeen-Hoquiam Flood Protection Project) 
Funding has been provided as a pass thru grant to match federal funing for the Aberdeen - Hoquiam Flood Protection Project, North Shore Levee and North Shore Levee - West segments. The Legislature intends to provide funds in the amount of $35.5 million over the course of the 2023-25 and 2025-27 fiscal biennia.

The Cities of Aberdeen and Hoquiam issued a joint Press Release today thanking the Senate for including $18.5 million in the 23-25 Capital Budget for the Aberdeen-Hoquiam Flood Protection Project.  Next step is for the House to release its Capital Budget on March 27 for a vote the following day. On June 8, 2022, the North Shore Levee - West Virtual Meeting Room opened to provide the public with current Project information and to gather public comments on the scope that FEMA should consider during thier review process.

FEMA will host an Open House for the North Shore Levee - West Project on June 22,2022 at the Hoquiam City Hall from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
 The public may drop in any time during the two hour Open House to view the exhibits.

After applying for a $34.65 million BRIC grant in 2021, the City of Hoquiam has been notified that the North Shore Levee-West Segment project has been selected for further review. The City is currently working with FEMA on the federal process to complete the review and move forward to the obligation process to formally award the funds for the project.
The FEMA review process includes public outreach activities to gather input from the local residents on the NSL- W project.  More...
