Food Donation Workgroup
Workgroup to study food donation by businesses
This workgroup formed according to Washington’s Organics Management Law (OML) 2.0, passed by the 2024 Legislature as HB2301. The goal is to develop recommendations for increased food donation from commercial generators in Washington State. The Food Center at the Department of Ecology (“Ecology”) facilitates the workgroup and will pass their recommendations to the legislature in a report by Sep. 1, 2025.
This page is a place for the public and workgroup members to get meeting agendas, summaries, notes, and other information, including the meeting link. Workgroup member affiliations were outlined in OML 2.0, and Ecology sent invites in June 2024. Please bookmark this page to stay up-to-date on work group research and development.
All meetings are from 10 am – 12pm PST via Zoom. Meeting dates are listed below. Members of the public are invited to attend and provide written comments through Zoom chat. There will also be about 10 minutes at the end of each meeting for verbal comments. Outside of meetings, comments can be sent to FoodCenter@ecy.wa.gov or any member of the workgroup.
